WoodSToc Aug 17-20, 2023 - Woodstock, NB

Yes Dave, a '22 BMW RT. The first maiden voyage of significant mileage was this past week. Got home last night at 8:30 - 13 hours, after a leisurely fill-up (breakfast that is) at the Denny's/Flying J at Napanee. The RT is a very good bike, but the Goldwing is better! The latter, being a six cylinder, is of course smoother, and because that motor's rpm at a given ground speed on the highway is only half of the RT's, the slight vibration always noticeable on the RT is blissfully missing on the 'Wing. And I did miss the Wing's backrest. That said, the RT does impress with it's engineering details. Even the fact that the sidebags don't leak!
Lots of rain on this trip both going and coming clinched my decision... I've thought for a long time that an Aerostitch suit would be sweet, and so my better half found a used one in my size on EBay this morning, and its on order! The REVIT rain suit which I've had for eight or so years, isn't bad, but a plagued nuisance to put on or take off. The Roadcrafter looks after the rider in just about any weather.
Just fyi UTOPIA makes great backrests and for the R1250RT
Had them on my last wing gl1200 and both ST1300’s.
Worth a look

Simply the Trans Canada, in the interest of time. Thirteen hours is a pretty long day, for an old guy...
Yes. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride after visiting you last year about this time. Besides the slow downs thru the construction I did manage to enjoy the scenery thru NB and into QC. Have they finished the TCH west/north of Woodstock yet?
I also remember that not all riding gear is water proof. I'm still researching gloves. After hours of pretty significant rain I stayed dry except for my gloves. The Trophy managed well. More protection than the ST. Comparable i imagine to the GW.
All my gear was dry the next morning in Trois Riviere.

Got some triple digit Aerostitch over gloves this year and tried them out coming back from OH-STOC, worked quite well but I think an application of silicone repellant on them would be even better. My hands were a little damp after 4 hours , but could have been some perspiration too. It was better than going through 4 sets of gloves like last year on the Rock!

Oh Magoo, you've done it again!

The Obo advertising agency is amazing! Never rude or pushy, every presentation wrapped in comfortable humour! Gotta say, to all you dyed-in-the-wool motorcyclists, don't miss this opportunity to meet Obo in person! Come to WoodSToc!
And as an essential extra, today I found an eatery that was not only unique, but just superior to most anything I've had in a very long time. Food was served in a mixing bowl, almost, and the server was friendly in a manner that made me feel I'd known her for years. This place will be checked out by a certain illustrious food connoisseur who many of us have met, just prior to the event. No doubt he'll post about his experience...

Have you looked at the Klim Vanguard GTX? Available in short and long. Waterproof. Pricey (in my opinion) though at $190cdn for the short and $230cdn for the long.
