Reflective Decals

I looked at Bike Quip as Keith suggested in post 12 above and for a set of front and back reflector kits, it was about $95 shipped to BC in Canada. Now yer Canada Revenue agents may be tackin' on some excise/customs duty on top.

I had scrap from work.
I may have some more around I could send you.
The rolls are fairly expensive.
Long roll of alternating red and white reflector tape DOT approved.
The white would go nice on the front.
Yes, please! I would happily cover at least shipping, if not more.

I'd like to put red on back of both 1100s; the front would be a bonus.

Bikequip side panel ones: price 22 pounds

Just do a search for ST1100 reflective decals or ST1300 reflective decals.

Just a dumb question. Since I'm unable to ride/drive 'til the second week of next month I'm considering this. How well do the reflective materials adhere to the fairly rough black plastic areas of the saddle bags?

The ones on my bike stuck very well- no lifting or peeling around the edges. But of course you need to clean thoroughly the surface before applying the reflective material. IIRC that involved soap, water, a stiff scrub brush (or maybe a ScotchBrite pad), and isopropyl alcohol.

Also, they were decals and not reflective tape. Had to soak them in water to separate the reflective material from the backing then "float" them into place (spray a mist of water onto the bike surface before applying the decal) and use a squeegee or other fairly stiff item (I think I used an old credit card) to work all the trapped air bubbles out from under the decals.

I've used the 3m products on BMW, Honda, and Kawasaki saddle bags and never had one lift off. Had them on the one BMW for 16 years before I sold the bike and they were still pasted on like new.

What from where?

Tape is silver/red alternating.
2” wide with red segments 10 3/4" , silver at 7".
I butted 2 together for 4" wide piece.

Not expensive.

This is what I'd like on mine. These are each multiple pieces? They sure don't look it.

From where, please?

I saw that, but I'm hoping to get something from here (US).

I am looking for templates, just to be able to cut them by myself without wasting too much tape.
Anybody?

Larry, what he shows in the photo in post # 28 is the reflective tape used on semi-trailers. He just cut it and used the red sections only. You can buy it by the roll at any truck supply/repair shop. You can also get shorter individual pieces of one combined red and silver (which reflects white) section in packs of a few at most auto parts outlets for not to much money. I have even seen them in many big-box Reno stores.

I spent the day making some reflective decals for my ex police ST1300.
I wanted to break up the white using reflective black 3M film.
Fairly happy with results not perfect but OK from a distance. View attachment 318297View attachment 318298lView attachment 318299View attachment 318300View attachment 318301
Nice. Just bought a 1300p today. Still has the metal posts above the mirrors. Looks like you may have flipped your down and added the lights. Did you do that or was it already done?

That looks great ! I did a similar thing on my ST1100 but not as much as you have. Some place here I even found the tank logo in black reflective and it looked very nice. Maybe Mello can guide you to the supplier

You could dress that up a little by putting some tubing between the two nuts. (There's a joke in there somewhere but it's a family friendly site.) It could be color matched and painted.
