I guess we travel in different circles. My Ford Fusion's recommended interval is 10K, Dad's 2010 GL1800 does 10K (Blackstone labs verified), I'm quite certain my ST1300 would do 10K just fine if I cared to, many guys in the GL1800 community go 10K, and the list goes on.

Definitely not trying to ignite a flame war or (God forbid) another oil thread. Just saying that it's definitely not unheard-of.

These ST's don't contaminate oil anywhere near as bad as a whole slew of bikes on the road. My CB900C couldn't even make 3000 miles because it contaminated oil so badly. My GL1200 was only good for 5K max. When I do a 5K oil change on my ST, the oil still has honey brown color to it. These engines just run clean.

How many times have you had to adjust the valves on the ST?

I am one that run my bikes between 8 to 10 thousand miles on my oil changes.

I wonder how many times we’ll see a reference to this thread in all future “Which oil is best?” threads?

My ‘18 Wing got T-6 at the first oil change, and every 5,000 since. But I doubt I’ll ever make 300K. The bike, maybe.

Once at 118,000 miles.

From an old post of my: "My first adjustment was at 118,000 miles as one was finally at .001 under. it was tight at about .0005" for many many miles. I think I adjusted in 4 valves to get them all at the top (most gap) of tolerances."

I've checked them a couple times once since then the last check at maybe 208,000 miles and no gap changes so I haven't checked them since.

Although he is mostly into cars, I suspect Mr. McFarland of the Freedom Factory would be impressed by your achievement and that of the Black Pearl.

Congrats Raymond!!!!! Only thing I can say is I am real happy that I've been able to share some of those miles. You taught me quite a bit about how to keep it running, The Old Blue Beast had 198,000 when I donated it in the spring.

I have ridden with Raymond and the Amazing Black Pearl and he mostly babies that thing everywhere - NOT! Raymond runs that bike like a stagecoach driver with a pack of wild apaches on his tail !
Raymond taught me the confidence of Rotella T6 every 10,000 miles and My Silver Surfer has only @ measly 100,000 miles. The Honda ST1300 is definitely in the top category of best motorcycle ever built - proven !

Many thanks for sharing this grand feat. I'll take my 06 with my meager 82k miles and look forward to the many miles ahead. Happy for you.

I have 303,158 miles on the bike now. More than enough to know that at least 300,000 of those miles I rode. I bought the bike new in May of 2009. Runs like new even looks like new from 150 feet!

Best purchase I've ever made. Never had a mechanical failure that left me walking.

The bike has most of the original parts still with very little new parts needed. I've used one single oil type since almost new. Rotella T6 blue jug and a cheap Supertech oil filter always. First oil change at 400 miles. Second at 1,000 miles where I started the Rotella oil and at 10,000 miles went to an every 10,000 mile change interval. 32 oil changes since new. Still doesn't require any oil between changes.

Never used anything other than low octane 87 gasoline. I would say the current usual MPG average is 43 to 44 at 70 mph and 40 MPG at 82 mph just two weeks ago on an 1100 mile all day ride to MNSTOC. Three SS1000 type rides in the last 2 months with no bike issues.

Not many big items have been changed. I changed the alternator out at 206,000 miles just because I had a 77,000 mile used alternator available before an Alaska trip. The alternator was not dead when changed. I've replace the U-joint twice, at 125,000 and at 250,000 miles. Both were bad when changed. Front wheel bearings changed once, rear wheel bearings are still the factory installed parts. Rear spline hub bearings changed once. Fork seals changed once at maybe 55,000 miles. Fuel pump changed once at I think 225,000 miles.

I too look like new at 1500 feet! And, like your bike, my warrantee has expired! Ride on man!
