Post ride report.
Well things started off a little wobbly. Dropped the trailer tire pressure down to 36 and all was better. I need to stiffen the hitch so it has less torsional movement. I talked with a couple of members who have built there own uni-go hitch and got some pointers from them. Did make it to 3 digits and it held it's line with no problem.all day at 80. More when the next upgrade is done.

You guys are sharp! This trailer design is the answer to my wanta go motorcycle camping dreams. I just received the Northern tool axles, wheel and picked up a tractor PTO U joint off of Ebay. I only found one question as to frame material thickness. Are you guys using .120” wall?

Just too cool. Doug

Mine is .25 but that is over kill. It's just what was available at the time. I would guess .120 would be fine.
Dan, Kreis or Pat will weigh in soon.

Mine is .25 for the T and the rest is .120 I just figured stronger is better. Yes mellow I did touch a few times so it will have to go up an inch or so. Thanks for the link, I'll see what I can do.

I've been thinking about a simple home made trailer rig but I just want it for grocery trips. My question is, does the gas mileage drop much with about a 90 pound total load (including the trailer) back there?

I had the same fuel use as a ST1300. Guy and I used the same amount at almost each stop.

That varies by state. In Mn I just paid based on the $25 I had in materials.;) And that was for a lifetime sticker that goes on the frame.

Well, I have almost finished the trailer hitch. Have the coupler left to weld on and then going to get it powered coated. I temp. installed hitch on bike so I could measure the rise for the trailer. Finished cutting all the pieces for the trailer and now ready to weld everything together. Should have almost everything complete by the weekend and one I get hitch back from powered coating, be ready to install and test it out. Here's some pics so far.
