Thanks it's a nice thought not sure I'm totally deserving, here is my last PR2 @ 7.5k
The ST rear wheel gets hot from the transmission that combined with a hot day, fresh top coat, two up and my desire to be on the throttle as early as possible in corners, I believe is simple asking to much of this tire

I put 18053 miles on my PR3's rear and still had about 1K to go on the front when I sold my 2000 VFR. Got my brand new 2010 ST1300 Beginning of this year with Stock Bridgestone Battlaxxes and now Finally (@9800 miles) they are near ready to be replaced. I will most definitely be ordering a set of PR4's. Cant wait. Never liked the feel of the Battlaxxes.

At 9k miles my rear tire was down to the wear marks but a rock out a hole in it so I don't know for sure how much longer it would have lived. I replaced it with another and will see tomorrow how well it handles the storm water.

My PR3 got replaced today with a new PR4GT. After 16,000kms (10,000 miles) there was canvas showing on the right side.
Of course the ST1300 is heavier than a VFR800.

Update,

My "B" spec PR3 on the K1600 just passed 10 thousand miles and is still not showing any appreciable wear. I switched to the PR3 front at 10K and so far no problems with it either.

My K-1600 was one of the few that came stock on Bridgestone and I burned through both of them in about 1/2 the distance that I usually get on the ST, back at 6K and front at 10.... If the 4 is as long lasting, I am going to be sticking with them, even with the skip when they transition from the hard center to the softer sidewall.

I put a set if Pilot Road 4's on at 35K miles (my 3rd set of tires). Up to this point I always put on the same tires that it came with "OEM".
The difference is night and day! I love these new tires, they don't wobble on road seams or highway paint lines. They make the bike much more stable and just feel stickier.
I am a slab rider, to and from work mostly, but at 6K miles these tires still look new.

I'm thinking of the PR2, but will the 180/55 17 fit the rear without problems? It's the closest size available currently.

There was a significant mileage improvement for each generation of Pilot Roads. And I don't think they made the correct size till the Pilot Road 3.
I am now at 10K on my latest set of tires (Pilot Road 4) and they still look fresh.

FWIW, I was able to get tires correctly sized for my ST1300s for . . . all of them (PR, PR2, PR3 and PR4).

Yes. Cost would be interesting my local dealer wants $193 + tax + mounting. Just for the rear.

Bought my PR4s last May from Chaparrals on eBay.
Front tire 143.88 has 17k so far and still looks good
Rear tire 176.88 replaced after 8k due to puncture
Mount 75.00 at local stealer

Replacement rear 198.00 just shy of 10k
mounting 25.00
purchased from local dealer

Cost is variable... $150 for 9k miles or $200 for 15k+ miles. I prefer the longer term savings over paying a little less today. I have a bit over 11k on my PR4's and they are just starting to look like I can't return them as new. As for buying, I got my front tire from Amazon and had it mounted at Cycle Gear (they sell em too, but mount for less if you buy them there) then installed it myself. I bought the rear from a local bike shop because I wasn't ready to try an install on that rear wheel.

I got word yesterday that my one and only Uncle that was still living, passed away on Sunday. So last night I decided I was going to ride the 2010 up there to Ogden Utah. I changed the oil and a little other prep work when I discovered that the tire has 9,000 miles on it. So I decided to check out the tread only to discover that the wear bars are too close, there was no way for me to feel good about running 1,500 miles on it. So I grabbed the 2012 and did some prep work on it to take it north.

Then this morning my wife decides that she wants to go...so I'll be caging it instead of riding!

But, it looks like I'll be putting some new tires on both bikes in a couple of weeks!
