I see at least a dozen things that I would go through before riding it
Hey now. Let him enjoy his fantasy for a day in this condition. He's brave. I was afraid of mine in the beginning. Then I called the White Courtesy Phone and the rest is rock n roll history, lol.
Sir Bike. Enjoy your bike. I really like the trees I see in the windows. That's why I live in the Sierras. I love my trees.
Maybe the most important components would be a full fuel tank and a comfy seat, then ride the tyres off it.

I feel like I have to remove that much stuff just to change a fuse sometimes. Mine looked like that doing the headlight.
Who on earth put on those Lego style handlebar risers?
A Plate with risers stacked on top as well?
You may want to check/keep an eye on the rubber grommets that are molded inside of the upper tree, as that much leverage will most likely start tearing the rubber out over time, and you'll find the handlebars will start getting loose.
Folks on the great book of face will tell you its normal, "they all do it", but once you open things up and find the rubber cracked/torn, and realize you'll have to replace the entire upper tree, which means removing the ignition and security screws, just to correct it.

lol - the previous owner did, and those were removed long ago...
Those are Helibars on the bottom (1 1/2" rise) and then he had Moto-CNC risers on top. It felt pretty firm, but was not for me. When I went to look at the bike, he had an immaculate looking Harley. I think he bought the ST not knowing about the riding position and it wasn't for him and his bad back. I told him that when I bought my ST1100 in 1998, I can still remember riding it home thinking "What I have done" in regards to the riding position, but I got used to it. So I think he needed to sell the ST1300 and I felt I got a pretty good deal out of it. After tearing it almost completley apart, the only real problem I found was with the SMC and that has been replaced.
I didn't realize that HeliBars sells 'extensions' for the brake and clutch lines. He had them on both, but when I took them off, I found out that you really do need an extension with the newer HeliBars on the clutch line, not sure how people are using them without. With my original Helibars on my 05, I didn't need them, but I don't think they had as much rise as the newer ones they are selling now
($40 each for those extension lines!)

When I bought the 09 I had figured on keeping the 03. However, since retiring I am not riding as much as expected, no commuter miles, and incredibly, never thought I’d say, but I only want two ST1300s. There is some economic incentive. I’ll avoid having a third Russell made and another DMR cartridge kit etc. driven by a little OCD all bikes must more or less match. I want some shed space back for a couple bicycles. And that puts down the idea of building another shed.
So the out going 03 gets oil change, front tire, the 09 suspension with new fork oil, and another little detail.
For now the 09 getting the suspension and the lot of modifications from the 03, rebuild windshield adjuster, starter valve synch, coolant change, brake fluid flush, and another little detail
The complete igowack job, or at least my attempt at that thoroughness will happen in the fall. Complete clutch and brake system overhaul with all new seals, switch pod service, preemptive thermostat and on and on.
can you see the other little detail?

They don't list the ST1300 on their website. How did you get them to do that?

There was some chit chat between Jamie and me while I was putting in an order for my Blackbird. I learned that he does suspension in general.
VFRs is what he was into and got known for so that’s what he advertises. Some other models have been added along the way. He is plenty busy.
I sent my first set of ST forks to have springs and revalve. Big improvement.
Later I sent another set in for the DMR cartridges. Even better.
I got some things done today but the 03 progress came to a halt when the fork damper bolt needed to be impacted out. I’m sure the bolt will go in ok but just couldn’t do that to the next guy.
If that’s not enough incentive, a buddy and I always say “the next guy might be me”.

I've seen single sided rears before but never a single sided fork like on the red one. How does that handle?
It's great on left turns.
I like your side extensions on your table, good idea.

My boss has biked to work for over 20 years. One day he showed up with a Cannondale Scalpel with the single arm front fork... It just doesn't look right, in my opinion. It is light though!
