On my trip I just back from to Utah. KLackey had a set of Shinko's. He was having issues with the tire losing air and after looking at the tire closely the sidewall had a crack going all the way around the tire. On the other side it had cracks on it too but not all the way around. I'm pretty sure he only had about 4K miles on them and they were not that old, 3-4 months.

I would never think of running a set after seeing that.

I've got 9500 miles on my front Verge and 6000 on the rear. So far so good. (I average 16000 on the BTO 20's) Russ.

Wow that is not good! I never had any problems with loosing air or any cracks in the sidewalls.

I hate you!:p: :DThere is no tire I can run that will get me 16k miles. I get 7700 miles till cord out of OEM 020 rears. That's why I'm still debating a car tire.

Well I like how the front and rear Verge handle. I've been chewing up my peg feelers quite regularly and now I just found that my shifter rubber has been chewed down! Not something I was trying to do, just found it.

Front tire is at 5500 miles and at a cost of $83 is already the cheapest tire per mile I've run and it still has more to go. Rear is at 3000 miles and about half worn.

With all the talk about various tires being noisy (even with earplugs!) These are dead silent, wearing and handling great.

With them giving the lowest $$$ per mile, I may have my new favorite tire.

Nice I am glad you found a tire that will work for you!

Ended up with just over 20,000 on the front and 17,500 on the rear.(Must have been 7000 on the rear on my previous post.) Could have made 20,000 on the rear too but put on new PR2s as a pair. I would use the Verges again if the PR2s fail to impress me. Needless to say I am not an aggressive rider.:D Russ.

Wow that is some great mileage out of any tire. I am glad that they worked so well for you.

Personally I love Shinko Ravens on all my bikes. Cheap, wear and feel good, not a problem in 2 years and generally 8-10K out of the rears. Have a barn full of them :).

I am running the Shinko Verges in ST13 sizes on a 96 ST11 standard. No problems. Currently have 10,000kms on them, measure up in the centre as half worn but I don't think they will go another 10,000kms. Best I have ever gotten is 13,000kms from Avon Storm Ultras. The Shinko grip at least as well in wet and dry so I am pleasantly surprised. I will do a final judgement on what they are like once I experience the last half of their life.

I'm right at 9,000 miles on the Verge front tire and I have fingers crossed for another 1,000 miles. This is the most miles of any tire I have used in my nearly 90,000 miles.

Lowest miles 7,200 on a Z6 followed by 8,600 on a Bridgestone 020 F

Do note that most of my riding is in the N GA mountains or dashing around western NC and eastern TN. Lotsa bumpy bits and twisty bits not much straigh line droning.

UPDATE 3 26 2012

10,000 miles on the front Verge. I think there's about another 500 - 1,000 miles left BUT I'm going on a trip next week so am having the tire replaced right now at CycleGear with another Verge.

Nice wear pattern on it. Less tread left on the edges than the center. Excellent characteristics at speed, cornering, braking and wet conditions.

WELL..... I just found those same cracks in my rear 011! No air loss problems (YET) but several cracks in the sidewall both sides that run parallel to the rim. I'll be watching it closely still has 4-5 32nds to go in the tire. Hankook standing by in the basement!

Update on Shinko 011, cracks haven't grown or done anything else rash (sorry:D) One thing that is happening is I'm having the worst left side wear on the rear ever. From middle to left edge is bald, right has full (but low) tread. This is at 5k miles. Couple more rides, DARKSIDE is next.

Front 011 still just above wear bars at 7600 miles. No cracks, handles great. I could do another 011 front except for Free Dunlop front ready to go on next. After that, 45 stone if reports remain positive.

Latest Verge front wore out at 6,500 miles. Constant 42psi and nice even wear across the tire.

6,500 is a little less than I normally get. I could have run it for another 500+ plus miles but I've got a 3 day ride next week.

The 6,500 miles included about 4,500 miles of hard, fast mountain riding.

I average about 7,250 miles per front Verge.

I just purchased a new set of Shinko 011 Avengers for my '04 ST1300. They just arrived today from Jake Wilson. We will see how this goes.

I also put a pair on my ST. I've had the speed up to 141 mph (by the Garmin) and they felt fine. I did have an issue though with the top box. With the 011's it developed the "pan weave" as a UK rider put it. I could feel it was from the rear of the bike. Without the top box or less than 120/125 it feels fine.
I also tried the newer 016 Verge II on my Hayabusa, it felt well planted, too. I'll get another set for each bike. when necessary. I don't keep close track of the mileage each tire gets, only whether it feels good (and safe) on the road.

It is good to see there is still some out there that are finding these to be a good deal. Be safe out there.
