The group site is seperate from all the other sites in the park, opposite side of the highway on a small lake. A few sites have electricity hookups and there is a central located antique hand pump for water. It's quiet and rather private. I've never pulled the tent trailer with a motorcycle (yet). These pics are prior to buying the ST and had the 2005 Kawasaki Concours there for commuting to work one day and daily side trips on the great rural roads surrounding the area.IMG_1482.JPGIMG_1483.JPGIMG_1484.JPG

I sure like the tent trailer and the size. I haven't pulled anything with a bike before, so is it a PITA or hardly notice it is there thing?

I have never pulled the tent trailer with a bike-yet. Actually bought it to use with my VW TDI (diesel). It is made to tow with a motorcycle as it has a swivel type hitch. I estimate it weighs about 200 pounds w/o extra gear on board. It has a lot of storage space inside so would have to be mindful of adding too much cargo weight. Can't tell it's behind the VW and mileage drops from the usual 50+ to mid 40's. The prior owner of the tent trailer camper had the extra room (porch/changing area) added and it works very well. Lots of dry space and privacy.
I'm going to look at a GW1800 in a couple days for a comfortable two up ride. The prospective Wing has a hitch, so perhaps next year will ready for some motorcycle camping out west after some local trial runs.

I like this thread. I like to ride and camp. I've camped MANY nights (at least 200+) on ride trips. So I dug through the pictures and pulled out a few more. I also like to camp in the middle of anywhere off the path with just myself and the coyotes and critters.

When I started going to ST-owners events my camping was gear was super cheap and dated. This was my setup in 09. Cheap Bass Pro shop tent and a bag I'd had for too many years. It didn't keep me warm on those cold nights below 35 degrees.

I bought some better gear after a few STOC events. Eureka 3XT tent was a big improvement. Location is Big Brutus coal shovel in Kansas:

I arrived at this Missouri road side park one night late in the rain and used the shelter for dry cover.

I bought another smaller tent, baseball field out in the county 60 miles east of Denver:

I was the only bike at FerrySTOC this night before the riff-raff showed up the next day.

And the next day the Riff-Raff surrounded me literally.

T. Padden and I have made the Alaska trip twice together now despite all had bets we would never tolerate each other for that long. Canmore British Columbia campsite.

This lake side spot in the Yukon is one of the prettiest places I've ever spent the night. Filled my water bottle right out of the lake.

This is somewhere in Upper Peninsula of Michigan on my return trip from LobsterSTOC in Maine. A parking lot across from a VFW post I think.

And this is a 2000 feet north of Mexico at Loma Paloma campground, Presidio Texas. After many days of sitting in the sun the Moutain Hardware tent was getting thread bare so I bought a small BRIGHT Eureka tent.

Yes I like to ride and camp, off in a day for ArkanSTOC!

Ziamon;
It looks/sounds like you often do not camp in a campground but rather where ever you find a spot. Curious to know if you ever get any grief from the locals or from local law enforcement?

The only time I was ever given grief was when I stopped at a football field on the edge of a central Texas town. They told me no camping on school property but pointed across the way that people often camp over there at the rodeo grounds.

And I've used probably 5 rodeo grounds since then in the western US. I can't seem to find many rodeo grounds in the Eastern US.

I've stopped and asked the lawman several times if I could throw up a tent anywhere and have been successful a few times. they then escort me to a town site and tell me they will drive by all night to keep watch on things.

Reckon you would have bent a few tent pegs driving 'em into some of those camp sites.

Not many Williamson, learned fast. We just use rocks on the corners if it's likely to be windy.
