Turn the key enough to open the lid and then pull out and up on the handle that surrounds the lift plate (not sure what this is really called but is where the key goes into), lift up the top box with the handle slightly and then move the box forward about 1/2 inch or so to delatch it before lifting it off of the bike. Sounds more complicated that it really is...
Hey thanks Scooter, that did the trick. Figured it had to be easy and it was easy-peasey. I had a wad of keys with box keys and they hindered opening the handle enough to unlatch it. You da man...thanks again.

Is this a Hondaline topbox? I want this for my 2006 ST1300!!
Well, just over a week ago, you could have owned it! But I doubt if you would have wanted to pay the price!
I just paid $495 + shipping (which wasn't cheap) :eek:4:

I hope the photos load, otherwise this may just be a rambling entry.

About six years ago I moved my top box forward to get a better center of gravity, better air flow, and use it as my backrest. It turned out to be a little high and was actually uncomfortable for where the pad hit my back. I moved it back about three inches and built a backrest that is adjustable and a little lower for better lumbar support. The backrest attaches to the frame supporting the top box and everything can be removed in about two minutes to have room for a passenger with the top box in its original position. The top box carries a Harbor Freight waterproof box on a plastic platform made from a cutting board from WalMart. I milled holes for bungee attachments and for the waterproof box with some spools on the box bottom and a 1/4" bolt to keep it in place. At one time I used a tank bag for the misc. items (camera, glasses, SPF, etc.) but it was a bit of a hassle every time I left the bike alone while it was parked. The plastic holder on the tank for the maps covers a larger map area than the bag did and it is less of a temptation for the snatch-and-run crook. The top box platform attachment mirrors the original placement grooves and holes so it clamps in place just like it was made to do. All of the framing was made with pieces of aluminum that I had found in second hand stores and when Sears was closing its hardware store. "Someday" I'll go back and clean up the rough assembly.DSC03708.jpgDSC03709.jpgDSC03712.jpgDSC03718.jpgDSC03716.jpg

I am looking for a blue top box for my new "Blue Streak". Learned last evening that BESTEM no longer makes topboxes???? Got a reply from the company.
Guess I am going to have to pay $500 for a GIVI? Anyone who has a lead for me, please chime in. Used or new.

Oh my! I love my Bestem 929, so I saw this post and immediately went to my source on Amazon and "no longer available" That hurts! I should have bought more of them. This is recent as my Father in Law was just able to grab one.

Wow, so now I own a collectible item??
Too bad, they were a good value, no complaints on mine. Color matches better than it looks in photos for whatever reason(s). Seldom mount it unless the wife is passenger.

Have you looked at the SHAD offerings? The 58 (?) expandable model is pretty nice looking.

Just reading the posts about the SHAD SH58X. expandable. Problem is trying to get the damn thing to Canada.
Yep road trip time. Not only that— install it while south of the border and ride back loaded with fruit and alcohol.

Here's the Comie 48L trunk I just put on my ST1100. $52 on Amazon. You can find details in a detailed post in the trunk/luggage forum.

I am in Newfoundland, Canada. I purchased proper pan European trunk for my St1300. I can not find a new or used trunk mount ANYWHERE! been trying for months. Can anyone help? Nothing on e Bay and the European bike shops that are on line say they can not supply.
I am told that a mount from Honda Ctx 1300 may fit, but no one can confirm that?
Where can I buy mount only? Model number I have is 08L42-MCS-800 or
08L42-MCS-80212 is the main part.
