I always check to make sure the tire is less than 2 yrs old at the most. The older tires tend to come on sale, so watch out.
I've only ever had an issue with Pirelli car tyres that were over 5 years old when 'new', the sidewalls started cracking within the first year. In '81 we bought a '58 NSU scooter, it still had the original tyres, I rode on those tyres until I sold it in '94. My current 2012 PCX150 has covered just over 6,000kms, the scooter is garaged, the tyres are probably only a 1/4 worn and there is no visible damage. Throwing tyres out at 2 years may be a little excessive, in my case they will have covered no more than 2,500kms.

Kevcules meant that he will not purchase new tires that are more than two years old. He was not suggesting that installed tires that are more than two years old need to be replaced.

Any ride reports on the T32 yet? latest new and improved and all that, I wonder how they compare to Road 5?
I bought two new rear T32 tires, one for the ST, one for the NC700X. I mounted the NC tire a week ago, and it seems to be both quiet, and handle well. It was a b***h kitty to mount, but got it on with tie wraps. Balance was easy, no weights needed. Satisfied so far.
Hope to mount the ST tire today.

I just put a set on my 01. Certainly one of the better tires I've run on any of my three STs'. Cured the wobble that came from the previous RoadSmart 3s', which was one reason for the change. Only downside is the T32s' might be a bit noisier. Hard to tell. I've found STs can make odd noises from the fairing and instrument cluster depending on speed and road conditions.

T32 rear is the best tire for my ST1300 I have used yet. Long life and rock solid. The first one I got 15 thousand kilometers out of it. The T32 front however is not proving to be as good as the Michelin Pilot Road GT for wear. However as a matched pair of T32's I would they say they are better than the T32 rear and the GT front, so I can live with the lower mileage with T32 on the front.

Well, this might explain why I got a "new" T31 delivered to my house with a manufacture date of 2319!

I have had three rear 31’s and two front 31’s. They have been more than adequate. They go about 10,000 mi. The air preassure has varied, so i check it every couple days on a tour.

The MICHELIN Road 5 Touring is only available in 180/55ZR-17 73W for the ST back tire.
What are the effects of running a wider/lower tire?
I have a dead set of PR4 and I am thinking of a set of PR5, the price gap is now just $15.
