Woke up at 04:00 this morning and got some chores done so I decide to take an early morning ride down along the North Fork of the South Platte River. Another one of my fav rides. Rode the V-Strom because there was some dirt road riding and the V-Strom was already dirty / dusty. Left the house at 06:00 and was back by 09:00. 110 miles and many more smiles. Got my attitude adjusted just in time for the weekend.

Rode the bike to church today. We had a graduation of two guys from Damascus House. They stay there for six months. It's not technically a alcohol / drug rehab place because you have to test clean to enter the program, but that's where their background is. While there, they end up doing a bunch of physical work like yard work and they get intensive Biblical training.
It changes lives.
Oh, and then I washed the bike this afternoon/evening.

238 miles today riding home from MNSTOC. Rode in rain for a few hours starting out then the second half the sky cleared. The first half of the trip the sky was choked with clouds and rain and was totally overcast even when the rain stopped. The last 50 miles there were no clouds anywhere to be seen. Rode a total of 719 miles on this event.
That's Seattle through most of the year. It either has rained. Is raining. Or is about to rain.
As a woman rider once said, "If you don't ride in the rain in Seattle, you don't ride."

Notice I didn't say I didn't ride due to rain. I rode anyway or I'd miss the event. That's what rain suits are for.

Never crossed my mind that you didn't.
I have heard that saying about riding in Seattle or anywhere in the upper west coast from several sources. I've visited and I believe it.

Todays Ride. August 8, 2026
Just a short ride this morning to try and get a little more accustomed to the “Triked” Goldwing.
It was charted (planned) to be about an hour and a half and around 70 miles. Of course, BaseCamp, when you select “Motorcycle” as the vechicle goes out of it way to take “rural” roads. But, excepting that, the trip was not bad.
I had no issues with the steering (finally getting use to the “Trike” steering). But, the ride seemed very rough. This was especially true of the rural SC roads. It seems that these roads (besides not being well maintain) were not well laid. On many of these roads, the center of the lane I traveled was very bumpy. I had checked and adjusted the tire pressure on the Trike for standard pressure on the front tire and 22 PSI on the two rear tires. When you ride down the center of the road, the Tirke’s front wheel is constantly being pushed around by the uneven road surface in the center. I don’t know of a way to make this better with the Trike.
Ok, today’s ride was about 63 miles and it took about 90 minutes. No issues (except as noted above).

And here is a picture of the route actually traveled (from Spot Tracker).
The videos below have been uploaded to RUMBLE. They were taken with my GoPro 12 Black video camera. They are recorded at 4K resolution but you have to manually select that resolution using the “Gear” icon at the bottom of the RUMBLE video screen. Oh and the GoPro does a great job on image stability.

84 miles today. 100 miles yesterday. It felt weird not riding since Saturday at MNSTOC. Met up with Jill’s cousin for a late lunch. Picked up a letter and rode home. Grass is cut and tomorrow is ripe for riding. Pic is with Jill’s cousin and wife. They ride two up. Great day for riding.

This evening, I had an urge for a Dairy Queen Peanut Buster Parfait. I rode to the DQ, parked my bike, and put my jacket and helmet on one of the outside tables. I went to the door, and it was locked. The sign said the lobby closes at 10:00. I looked at my phone, and it said 10:03. Dang it.
For muscle cars, I'm a Mopar man.
