Helmets 2010 Shoei RF-1100 . . . Wow!

Yea, I just don't like the breath guard in unless it's really cold out. At least I didn't like it in my 800. I did try the chin curtain but didn't like it because it was tighter to get the helmet on.
Maybe when it gets colder I'll try the breath guard out.

I guess I'm just picky.:eek::

Just got my RF1100 too. I LOVE the bright orange color. Head and shoulders above my HJC in terms of comfort and venting. A little noisier, though.

Karl -- It's on par with my previous RF-1000. With just about all full face (closed) helmets, you've got to take them off and slip them through the face shield. With my Multitec and Symax I can put on my helmet without removing my glasses, but only but wiggling it down. Bottom line, I have yet to find a helmet that allows me to put it on without removing my specs first. Brent

What a great price .... have not found one for under $400.00 even on ebay. Makes my search a lot easier. thanks for the info ...

I'm in the same boat with head size and looking for a flip up to use on my long distance rides, I've tried HJC, KBC, Shark and whatever else the shop had in XXL and none fit properly. Got any suggestions for flip up style???

The starting place is reading up on helmet / head shapes (linky). Determine your head shape by measurement, trial (try on helmets at a stealership if you must) and experimentation. Once you have a good idea of the general shape of your head - and the respective size-to-fit, revisit the Web Bike World article and helmet classification. Read through their reviews and compare them to those on this forum.

Having done your homework, it's pretty hard to go far wrong.
:p:

Throttlejockey, I watched one review where he said he was not happy with the way the seal was too. But he said he was able to adjust it by moving the side mechanism back. You may want to look at that as he said it sealed well after messing with it.

Bigmak,

Are you sure that was on the 1100? The 1100 has springs that make sure the shield is in the right position to sit on the rubber and seal tight.

I have to say that coming from a Multi Tec I expected this thing to be quieter, but it really isn't. With the front vents open it seems as loud as the Multi Tec.

So for the fogging issue, on the 1100 you can turn the lock on the side of the shield UP and it will vent the shield ever so slightly to prevent fogging. I love this feature compared to the Multi Tec.

Yep, I can't remember now which vid it was but he said that he had to tweek it a little. He also said it did not bother him as it was still a mid range lid. He is a shop owner so I would guess he knows his stuff. He said he tests EVERY thing that comes out. He was able to loosen some screws and move the mechanism back and all was good.
Based on this thread I have one on the way. :broc1: The noise doesn't bother me as I doubt it will be any worse than my Scorpion. I'm tired of it raining on the inside of the shield. :eek:4:

No rain inside yesterday. Only through the front vents and it felt pretty good since it was 95 degrees.

Has anyone else got the helmet from Comptetion Accessories for that cheap price? The website says to click on a link and put in your e-mail address for the cheapest price, I did that yesterday but haven't gotten an e-mail.

I think that is where I got mine. Make sure your email address is correct. You may want to send it again to them. Good luck.

Love my new 2010 Shoei RF1100 when I am riding...

...miss the convenience of the HJC Sy-Max when I stop.

Life is full of compromises

Just bought one for my wife from Competition Accessories, shipped 3-day, for $320. Would have been $310 without the extra shipping, $20 more than pweg33 paid in February, but still a great price. The online e-mail quote never did work so I just called them. I went with the extra shipping so I'll be sure to have the helmet by the weekend so I can set up the Audiocom system before we leave for a 4000+ miler around the western states next Tuesday! Woohoo! :06biker:

Picked mine up a few days ago at Niehaus Cycles in Litchfield, Illinois.

WOW!!! It felt like air conditioning compared to my KBC TK-8.

Love this helmet!!!!!!!!!

I just adjusted my shield. I was cleaning up some stuff in the garage and came across the directions for my replacement shield.

After looking at my shield I noticed it wasn't closing tight on the bottom seal. All you have to do is remove the shield, loosen the 2 screws of the mechanism and rotate it whichever way needed to close up the gap. Do this on both sides.

The holes are oblonged slightly, enough to make adjustments. Now the shield fits tight all the way around.
