Can I get a "2nd" from any other ST1100 owners to confirm that it does NOT fit into the sidecase? Not sure if that is going to be a dealbreaker for me or not, but would be good to know...

I'm interested to hear the answer to this as well. This would not be a good thing. The RF1000 fits in fine.

Thank you all for your input. I'm just getting back into owning a bike, (it's being shipped as I speak 2004 ST, can't wait). Anyway I have been agonizing over which helmet to buy. I think now the decision is made, Light Silver RF-1100 with pinlock shield. $330 delivered to my door + shield from Competition Accessories, best price I could find.

I've checked mine HV and can't find any sign of helmet smudge. If it's the liner doing that to yours, I'd get in touch with Shoei to tell the story and get a fre replacement (went through that with a MultiTec).

Funny thing is the helmet doesn't touch that area. It's the dirty air coming off the helmet at speed.

I just walked out and checked and my medium size RF-1100 does indeed fit in my st1100 side case. Keep in mind that the RF-1100 comes in 5 different shell sizes so a large or XL may not fit. I purchased mine from newenough.com and they matched the lowest price I found at another online vendor.

FYI.... Competition Accessories tell me there is a countrywide Shoei price increase effective 09/01/2010, didn't say how much. Google "competition accessories coupon" get the coupon codes that are available I saved 10% on visor-heh its a gallon of gas.
Now we're talking...great info. I'm pretty sure my RF1000 is a medium so that bodes well for me upgrading...thanks for checking!

I just got back from a nearly 500 mile lunch ride. This was my first ride with the Shoei RF 1100 and man I love it.
I always ride with foam ear plugs but to me the RF-1100 is much quieter than my old KBC and the venting is much better too.

After several months I'm still quite pleased. I did an initial adjustment of the visor to eliminate just a little whistle and haven't looked back. Still the best FF helmet for the money I've bought to date...
Just a quick update - Cycle Gear had a booth at the Moto GP here in Indy a few weekends ago and had them on sale for $319. They didn't have the size/color I wanted, but shipped one to me for free. It was an event weekend special however...so I don't think they have it offered that way on the website.
I can also confirm that the medium does fit into the sidecase of the ST1100. Haven't taken it for a ride yet...
