Helmets 2010 Shoei RF-1100 . . . Wow!

Competition Accessories (compacc.com) has good prices, especially on discontinued models and graphics. I've bought stuff from them with good service. But google 'motorcycle helmet' and you'll get buried in sites to check out. Or look in any motorcycle magazine for ads.

BTW, I have a year-old RF1100 which I like a lot. It's fairly quiet and ventilates very well. Coming from an Arai, I find the shield changing system a big improvement. The Arai Vector fit a little more snug and looked and felt more compact, but was very comfortable, too.

Yeah, I think I am going to place my order as well. I need to see if my Shoei Z-Two is an X-Large or Large. I think it is an XL.

I was looking on Shoei's web site and they mention an optional Air Mask. What is that? Anyone have one and is it worth it? I have been thinking about getting a Respro Foggy Mask. It is about the same price. Just wondering which way I may want to go. Though it is possible this helmet is better at preventing fogging. I am also considering getting the pin-lock visor. I have it on my Nolan N102 and it works well.

I've come to the conclusion this helmet is not good for not fogging. My RF800 was much better. Definitely needs a pinlock.

My Z-two is pretty bad at fogging. Everyone pretty much said to go Pin-lock but I didn't want to spend the money on it because it was the last season for that helmet. It is getting old and needs to be replaced. The RF-1100 is the one I like the best. I am willing to spend the money for the Pin Lock on this helmet as I plan on having it for a while. My Nolan doesn't fog much but at 7* it does ice up.

I remember about 3 years ago I bought my RF1000 off ebay for a great price. I wonder when the RF1100 will hit ebay for a good price too. I think it was the basic solid colors only that sold cheaply on ebay back then, but I wear a white helmet so it was perfect.

They are on there and the price isn't too bad but no real steals unless you want a used one where someone is selling it. I also am looking at plain white. That is what my Z-Two is and I like it.

Latest look at XL is in the $377 range for new ones. This is less than the $419 MSRP but they can be found pretty easy for that price at many of the online retailers. Now there is talk of people getting them for $329 or so. If I find that price I will pull the trigger. I don't think I will find it for less unless I go used which I don't want to do.

I love my RF1100...BUT....the vent covers in front are very easy to catch on things and....get torn off when the vents are open. It's easy to catch the cover end on things. Shoei is aware. After losing my second, I called them and they sent me a new pair for free.
I don't suspect they'll do that a second time, so I'm trying to be much more careful.
