Two women were playing golf, and caught up to the twosome of gents playing ahead of them. One of the ladies offered to go up and ask if they could play through, but turned around partway and returned to her playing companion.
"Why didn't you ask if we could play through?" her friend asked.
"When I got close enough to recognize them, I realized that one of the men is my husband and the other is my lover. Naturally neither one knows about the other, so I couldn't risk exposing the secret."
"That makes sense. I'll go ask."
The second woman started toward the men, then did an about-face and returned.
"Why didn't you ask?" the first woman asked.
"I have the same problem as you." came the answer.
"Why didn't you ask if we could play through?" her friend asked.

Years ago my sister was running in a park in Montreal when a guy did exactly this, pulled open a trench coat. She was right next to a busy street and didn't feel she was at risk. Her words to him were "is that it?" and kept running.
