Have a dealer assess the cost of repair. I had an insurance rep try to tell me what a repair would cost after our tech had done a proper evaluation. The rep either had no clue or wanted to save his company money.
You can ask the dealer to advise you on what could be left off the assessment so you can keep the bike. The ins could then pay for repairs if the value is higher. We had bikes totaled because a frame was scratched and the labor would push the bill over the value. We had others that asked us to eliminate similar cosmetics from the assessment because the owner wanted to keep the bike. If you find used parts and do the work yourself you could manage a good deal. Maybe it's worth your consideration.
