My dad had the exact same equipment in 3 rooms of his dental office, until 1976 when he retired. I grew up playing with the foot operated chair lift and the belt driven drill. He drew the line, when it came to playing with his X-ray machine.

I can remember being tortured with those old, rumbling "hammer-drills"...
Current, modern equipment is soo much smoother and also the dentists have changed their approach from blunt "oil/mining drillers" to surgical precision...
