Where did you ride today?

Took the FJR out for a 160 mile ride today into the foothills and up to Echo Lake again. No pictures as I have posted many pictures of these roads in past write ups and... I was just enjoying the late October ride with out all of the tourist and weekenders clogging up the roads. Very enjoyable, The FJR loved the cool mountain air and purred along happy as can be. Mid to late Oct is the best time to ride around here if there is no snow on the ground yet. Here is the google map route that I rode today.

Had a very enjoyable 600km round trip on Sunday as far south as the Whakamaru Dam on the mighty Waikato River. Lovely weather with a bit of a nip in the air, but sunny and dry conditions all day until I was nearly home. I even took in a short and twisty gravel road "short" cut for a bit of added spice on the way south, and the highly enjoyable "Old Taupo Road" on the way back north. Nozomi made easy work of the journey and I could have easily kept riding.

I rode just about 80 miles today. Enough to join the cold ride thread and determine what that roughness is I have been feeling in the bike.

Found it, Ujoint #4 installed in the Black Pearl. This broken one was a used one I got with an Ebay buy. It was supposed to have 22,000 miles on it when I got it. If that was right I got about 88,000 miles out it. A little low from my normal 126,000. It broke real good with two cups broke on the sides and pins rusted and missing. I first noticed it Sunday while coming home from a ride.

If anyone see's me this weekend at FLSTOC remember I could have left the Black Pearl sit at home broken or fix it and leave it dirty. I fixed it. It's really dirty but runs down the road real gooooood.

My OEM one only got 50,000 miles so that's not bad, good you found it on a short ride.
