Helmets yellow helmet

I've had two young ladies comment that my hi-viz helmet is cool. Not that cool is the reason I'm wearing it, but they made me chuckle.

As for which stands out, I'd say hi-viz yellow way over white. My helmet nearly glows, especially at night. I have the Scorpion exo900.

I would save your money and use it toward LOUD pipes, no just kidding I DO NOT have loud pipes but I do have a Hi-viz jacket and helmet.

Love the color. I ride with a guy who has this helmet. It matches his jacket! I feel under-dressed when I stand next to him. Go for it!

I bought a Tour Master Intake 3.0 Mesh jacket in Hi-viz 3 weeks ago and I love it. I noticed people seeing me right away. Hi-viz will be a priority for my next helmet.

I've worn white helmets since the invention of steam.

The surprising thing is that they have seemed to be in less demand over the past decade or so. Cool graphics seem to sell better...go figure. They may as well print tire track graphics across some of them as the grey scale ones look like pavement.

I've been looking for a hi-viz yellow/green helmet for the past couple of years. But being basically cheap, I wonder why some good helmets sell in the mid $100 range but the cheapest hi-viz is more like over $300 (Canuck bucks).

If we all go out and buy one...just like McNuggets...the price will fall...right?

You first.

Look at Scorpion. http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no=4645 I had not worn my 700 since I got my Shoei RF1100. I did last week and now I wish I had just gotten a new yellow Scorpion rather than dumping too much money into the Shoei. The 700 is much quieter than the Shoei and lighter to boot. I coule have had 4 700s for what the 1100 cost.

I am trying a white helmet next. Tired of all the McDonald's jokes when wearing red jacket. Even if they are getting the colors reversed.

Edit...just ordered a Neotec in anthracite color...tried to get white, then yellow...they were all back ordered. Don't have patience to wait so I guess I will have to buy some yellow to wear.

Well I got mine at last, like it very much along with the hi-viz top that I have, make the car user and other slow and get out of my way, then with the LED DRL anybody would think I was a LEO, opp's I am. The green dot on the side is to show that I have an emergancy card inside the helmet, something that we do here in the uk

Hi Viz is excellent in misty weather or rain, where driver vision is reduced. You might as well be as isible as possible. If you are not to crazy about hi-viz take a look at the Scorpion EXO 500 series helmet - Hi Viz oil slick. It` pretty awsome.

Check my profile pic. I like to refer to it as the deer hunting PAC-Man look.
I'd rather be seen on the road than in the ICU.
Not too many long right hand sweepers in the ICU.

Definately the next set of helmets will not be selected based upon how well they compliment the bike n gear rather they'll be selected partly on visibility.

Although a high visibility helmet and clothing will probably get you noticed more, a teenager in a cell phone frenzy will render your visibility items useless. Case in point. A friend of mine who has about a thousand lights on the back of his Goldwing was knocked across an intersection by a car one night. The driver of the car claimed, he did not see the bike. Result, no tickets. One of the responding officers agreed that motorcycles are hard to see, especially at night!
There are probably not many that would agree with me but I feel that there are some drivers out on the road that don't really care if they hit a motorcycle. I will bet that that same person would think twice if they were to pull out in front of a big rig. The consequences would be very different. I shouldn't have to dress up in clown colors so that some uncaring motorist might be more inclined to not take me out.
One of the reasons that I ride a motorcycle is the feeling that I get. You know, the freedom of the open road and the freedom to do as I please?

I like it. My last helmet was yellow. Now my whole bike is! I changed to a white helmet, which I think stands out even more.

John-

+1 a white helmet seems to stand out more with high viz gear.
btw nice paint job :)

If I repainted it, that or white would be up on the list. Or maybe the VFR Red White Blue or...
Think I'll stick with coronado filth enhanced blue LOL.

I just got a caberg konda in white and I'm very pleased with it for the price,I think the white is more noticeable than yellow, though it makes no difference if the cagers are preoccupied and not even watching the road

My most recent helmet is a Bell Revolver modular black w/ white stripes. I love the "Look" of the helmet but the modular is super heavy and my neck hurts after a while. I promised the wife I would go to Hi-Viz and probably going back to a regular full face for the weight issue. I prefer the more greenish-yellow than yellow-yellow though. The SHOEI Qwest is awesome looking, but $$$$$$. http://www.cyclegear.com/eng/product/qwest_overt_full_face_motorcycle_helmet/web1008625
