New Goldwing

I saw a new model Harley in a magazine recently , what a deal ! : had no tail trunk & no windshield - $42 K ! Still had the 45° V-Twin too , Hmm , so did the 1909 ..... I assume it has been refined some in 112 years , but ,,,,,, As I compare to what the new GoldWing has technologically & 3 times the cylinders .....for ~$10K less !

There are some super deals out there on used ones if you shop around. Bought mine from a Harley dealer. Some guy put 426 miles on the Wing and traded it in on a Harley. Thank you sir for taking the hit instead of me. Had only used six weeks of the 3 year warranty. It is a sweet bike.

And there are lots of add ons to lessen your pocket book.

I would not let that sticker shock me. I paid $11,300 for mine brand new in year 2000. Never had a second of regret even 21 years later:biggrin:

Tremendous value? Tremendous value :nuke1:.
The new GW might be a great bike for some, might be a tremendous bike for some, but tremendous value .

My, what a drama queen you are today, couldn't you find more emoji's to paste in?? I'll limit myself to just one. :)

Yes, I stand by that statement, in the context of what I wrote, which was comparing what the GW offers vs. a slew of bikes that sell for the same or much much more than $32k and, IMHO, are lesser bikes.

That why I never buy "new".

That was me. For years. I drive two 15 year old cars (one always starts), and have an 18 year old motorhome. Now I find myself with 2 motorcycles I purchased new. I got about $7,000 off sticker plus set up on my 18 Wing I bought in September. It is expensive, but it is worth it. I took my wife to a Harley dealership first to lessen the sticker shock.

One of my dilemmas with a new Goldwing now is that Honda is likely to release ACC on the '22 model and I really would like to have that for freeway cruising. So do I buy now or wait? Or buy now and buy later? :D:D

Priorities! You sound like us. We have a 2018 Wing and a 2012 Triumph, however my wife drives a 17 year old car and I drive 17 year old pickup. Everything bought new except for 2006 toy hauler. Wife's call to buy the wing.

I bought both my Lexus used. My theory is the second 100,000 miles is a lot cheaper than the first 100,000. I am convinced a 10 year old Lexus is the best car value. My wife did buy a new Versa, the cheapest new car in America. It has roll up windows. Wouldn’t been my choice but I am a little more attuned to maintenance than she is.

Much, much easier.

John

Why is it easier? The ST is easy, once you know the technique.

Does the Wing sit taller, weigh less or have the center stand in a better, more central location?

"easy" is relative. I can put the ST1300 on the center stand without much difficulty, but every other bike I've ever had have been easier.

Well, I had a ST1300 for about 6 years, so I know exactly how easy it is to get on the centerstand. I don’t know if the Wing’s centerstand has a different angle, or if the foot lever has more mechanical advantage, but I know it takes less effort to get on the centerstand. Most riders on the Goldwing forums agree that it easier than previous Wings.
