John, when is that AR bike gonna make it to AZ?
Sorry that I did not see this when it was posted. I moderate another forum and it keeps me busy.
I attended the ES6 Eureka Springs, ARK unrally which is every Labor Day weekend. I will be there again next year also. When that was over, I drifted off NW and hit the highway going south to I-40 and took my time.
3 days to make it to Mesa, Arizona.
Why so long? I'm not in riding shape anymore, have been off of bikes since January '08 when a Freightliner semi decided that he wanted my lane and totalled out my '94 GL1500SE and nearly got me. I was ATGATT then too. :bow1:
I hope to be compensated for that miscue one of these days, but the argument is still going on between the beagles.
In any event, I would ride about 90 minutes and get off and take a nap. Get up and ride another few miles and average something like 500 miles a day.
I value safety and my hide a lot more than bragging rights on how far I can ride in a day.
One thing I have to comment on. The ST1100 totally wowed me with its' road handling characteristics. As I was totally un-road worthy ( have not been riding since the accident
) , I would catch my self getting into a twisty too hard on a curve that kept getting tighter.
The ST answered my need to tighten up the turn willingly every time and never once did I feel like it was going to high side and slide out on me.
I'm impressed with this bike. wish the handlebars were farther back and up higher, even though it has a 2 inch riser on it now. but, I am a Goldwing spoiled rider. I love my road couch GL1500.
