Where did you ride today?

Well, My wife took off about lunch time to visit friends in Cedar Rapids and maybe go with the group to Galena. As she left she told me that since I'll be gone camping most of September she's going on this trip. Besides, she has surgery for a bit of skin cancer on her right arm and won't be doing anything with that arm for several days after. This will actually happen the day before I leave for ArkanSTOC. She is still letting me go... I think. Will see for sure once the surgery is done.

Shortly after she left I went for a ride. Mostly cloudy for most of the ride and temps ranging from 77*F to 80*F. I rode 88 miles today. This trip took me down to near John Wayne's birthplace, Winterset, IA.
Since I am seeing a theme developing here I decided to stop someplace I sometimes ride past. Left my jacket on just to make sure I feel like I needed it. :giggle-2x:

Headed out to Northern California today. Decided to skip the traffic nightmare of Seattle - Tacoma - Olympia - Portland and take the ferry over from Edmonds to Kingston.

Low tide. This place is so laid back, the barber shop says to make an appointment if you want him to come in to cut your hair.

I got several compliments about the bike. That always make my day.

Went a bit further south on Hwy 101. Veered off inland on 101 for a brief bit though Tillamook. You've heard the name before. It's where Tillamook cheese comes from. No ocean scenery, but lots of tiny twisty roads to have fun with. I was actually thinking this is a great way to wake up in the morning. No riding a hundred miles to get someplace good. Just leave the motel parking lot and enjoy.

But I did get to see the ocean a bit.

Another nice day and another day without my wife "suggesting" things for me to do. Well, not entirely true. My son brought his old mower (he's replacing it) to our garage today for us to sell and my wife "suggested" that I wipe it down to be more presentable even though she is still over around eastern Iowa.

Anyway, went for another ride today. Sunny with temps just under 80*F for most of it. Rode 82 miles. This time I stopped at The Duke's (John Wayne) birth place house on the way. It was in the middle of this ride when I got an alert from my security cam system and several texts at the same time. So I stopped while there to find out about my son's mower situation. I replied that I was on a ride... code for "don't text but call if very important."

Great day riding in the north Sierras. The temperature was quite mild, especially up in the mountains. The guys I'm with call one section the "Little Dragon". I'm sure there are a million of those "Little Dragons", but it was incredibly fun and this one lived up to the name.

Tomorrow, we're heading across three passes. Again, one of those routes that looks like someone dropped some wet spaghetti on a plate and made the roads look like that...twisty and fun.

Didn't think I'd get to ride for a few days due to rain storms. It did rain rather hard this morning and dropped about 1/2 inch. But then the sky dried up and the sun started shining a little through partial cloud cover. So...
Rode 55 miles today. Mostly straight roads but just wanted to get out and ride a little bit.

No ice cream stop today. No stopping for pictures... but I did stop at the end of the ride to pick up 1 lb of carrots that my wife was asking for to make carrot cake muffins.

edit: The muffins are delicious. Especially with a creme cheese frosting. :thumb:

My Son-in-Law owns a 2015 Versys 1000 that he never rides. Last two years maybe 150 miles. So I took it home to do some over due service on it and then needed to take a test ride. Rode up into the foot hills to Evergreen and back home again. Left at 06:30 and was home at 09:45 115 miles. Along the way I stopped at "Lynn's Whistle Stop" across from Tiny Town. 1. to check it out, never stopped there before, and 2. to get a cup of coffee. Nice place and very friendly people. I will be going back again. Great early morning ride. A bit overcast and quite cool this morning. A pleasant change from the heat that we have been having this past couple of months. ( Thinking of making SIL an offer on the Versys and then putting my FJR up for sale.)
