Where did you ride today?

Did a little local Ojai loop ride on the Super 10 today. It was a 60 MPG ride. One slow ass driver after another. Not a lot of traffic, just everyone putt putting around well below the speed limits. As soon as one slow poke turned off, another one would pull out up ahead. Couldn’t even upshift! Out frustration and a need to clear the carbon out I ended up on the freeway for a bit! ☹️

My Son-in-Law owns a 2015 Versys 1000 that he never rides. Last two years maybe 150 miles. So I took it home to do some over due service on it and then needed to take a test ride. Rode up into the foot hills to Evergreen and back home again. Left at 06:30 and was home at 09:45 115 miles. Along the way I stopped at "Lynn's Whistle Stop" across from Tiny Town. 1. to check it out, never stopped there before, and 2. to get a cup of coffee. Nice place and very friendly people. I will be going back again. Great early morning ride. A bit overcast and quite cool this morning. A pleasant change from the heat that we have been having this past couple of months. ( Thinking of making SIL an offer on the Versys and then putting my FJR up for sale.)

As of yesterday evening I am now the new owner of this motorcycle. What am I going to do with four motorcycle. I guess the FJR is going to go up for sale in a few weeks. Gotta make one last German Bakery ride with the FJR. :giggle:

I haven't been able to stand outside here and say "it sure is a nice day" in about three months. It might be another month or two before that happens. It was 91 degrees at 0900 this morning with a high of 104 and a heat index of 113 forcasted for today. I'm seriously considering moving.

Conversely I left about 03:00 and road out to the Catskills without any mild or cold gear. I had to put on the grip heaters and the seat. By 14:00 it’s 77 again. Great day of riding up there. I was always going the opposite way of traffic. 440 miles and just as many smiles. (We get snow up here)

Left Palo Alto where I've been helping my daughter after her spinal surgery. Did a bunch of odd jobs around the house when I wasn't helping to keep her from bending over or picking up anything heavy.

Headed north and stopped in at Lassen Volcanic National Park. That $10 spent on a senior pass years ago has really paid off. :D

I got one of those senior passes last year. I've used it several times already. I could've sworn when I purchased it that one of the selling points was that it was honored in state parks too. I was in the Black Hills last summer and they wouldn't accept it. I had to pay $20 just to ride through. :(
 
even a trip to the post office is an adventure though i passed a post office to get to this one

They are good for state parks but only in some states... Not all, you have to ask.
 
Yesterday was a day of contrasts. Dry desert east of the Cascades to alpine meadows and forests in the mountains. Heat to relative colder weather. There were roads that I came across (edit: no one) for like 10 minutes at a time...to sigh :confused: Bellevue and Seattle traffic. Roads that were straight and gave me a chance to pray and be thankful for the blessings I have in this life, to twisty corners where all my focus was on the moment. Contrasts.

Started in southern Oregon then pointed the XR towards Government Camp on Mt. Hood. Desert to Forest.

The Yakima River Canyon. I haven't seen any LEO's handing out performance awards through here the last few times I've traveled it. The speed limit is 45 mph, but begs for 60 (or more).
