Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

If I knew which six wires have to be cut, I could work out where else to find them in the harness (provided they are still all clustered together further down the line) - how about posting the installation instructions?

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

I looked today. Looks like the harness comes forward on the right side of the bike. Looks like a good place right behind the starter solenoid (to left of battery looking from right side with side cover off) and towards the rear of the bike a little. Nice open area protected by the rear fender inner well. Factory type connectors below. Member here also.

Edit: Looks like if you pull the rear grab handles off the harness will pull out enough to work on it.

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

THe FCE cost me $130.00 and I got it within days. Ivan said I got the first order ever going out. Had several rides now and there is improvement in acceleration and over all performance. I had to remove seat, side covers, disconnect battery, remove grab bar and tail light. I unplugged the ECM and marked two white wires on one plug to color code them. Then cut 6 wires exactly where I was instructed too.(very important when installing new connectors provided) After installing the new connectors, I was able to plug in the FCE and ECM and gentle arrange everything back into place with the FCE and additional wires under the ECM. Hooked up the battery and reinstalled everything and was good to go. This is now a GREAT BIKE.
Hope this helps

Yup, but I have the full monty....... K&N, TT FPR, and aftermarket pipes... Ivan said the FCE would work better if I changed back to the stock FPR... Now where did I put that little puppy?????????????

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

I'm curious how the techlusion device would work together with the FCE.

Unfortunately no $$ to test it.

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

Got the Ivan FCE installed today and went for a 45 minute ride in traffic. What a great improvement. The part throttle on/off is much, much improved. The best money I've spent in mods on this bike are the FCE and the Spencer seat mod. Makes a great bike even better.

Jim - you'll have to keep us informed on the MPG's. Glad to hear it improved the ride

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

Big Red---If I understand Ivan correctly, this unit is designed to increase the drivability, not increase hp or torque. Drivability is something that you can tell " by the seat of your pants". I'm pretty sure I read (jordanv?) that a before and after dyno run yielded the same numbers.

MD Turley-- Just call Rockland County Motorcycle Services, Congers, NY at 845 268 1212 between 10:00 and 6:00 Eastern time and talk to Gina.

Got some more miles on Ivans FCE this weekend and like jordanv, the fuel mileage is up between 1 1/2 and 2 miles per gallon. I'm still impressed with the smooth throttle responce so much that I took the throttle tamer off to see how that works for me. More later----

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

Does anyone have any knowledge as to whether this device is suitable for UK spec ST1300's. I have a problem when particularly above 1000m altitude (French Alps for example) there is a momentary delay in throttle response usually on tight bends.........

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

This will be my next Farkle and the answer to my one and only complaint with this most excellent bike. I'm coming from a carbureted bike with smooth response so the abrupt on/off at low speeds is a little disconcerting to both myself and my wife.

So, if you've installed this one, please post your impressions. How intrusive is the install? Is it inline or piggy backed onto the wires?

Thanks,

Dennis

enyajtrebor---Probably have to contact Ivan @ www.ivansperformanceproducts.com with that question.

Rode Weary-- Install is inline. FCE mounts under the ECU. Six connections. Everything necessary comes in the kit, including the crimper pliers.

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

Can anyone post the installation instruction? I really would like to know how challenging it is for a layman like me to install.

Re: Fuel Cut Eliminator for ST - On-Off Throttle Issue Resolved

Just ordered the FCE for my 06. Hope this thing works as advertised. I ride in a alot of on/off traffic here in Northern VA/DC and also have to navigate underground garages - hoping this smooths out the throttle control in those situations.
