I only have an 03-08 manual within reach at the moment, can someone with a newer service manual check the depth?
IIRC I believe they backed off the depth a bit…
Check several service manuals and updates.
Don’t rely on the kid in the shop to know.
I have through 2012 in my manual.

Any glue in pages in the back that list the changes?

Micheal;
You just need a little nudge to refresh your memory. You have already taken a picture of this fitting's location and posted it for the benefit of others. See your post here.

In case you want to get the parts to make a replacement brass tee fitting, below is what you will need;

Forty years and still terrible at ordering these small fittings - just to be sure, those fittings are barb x 1/4" [not 3/8"] MPT?

Make absolutely sure of the depth measurement (have him check his copy of HONDA WRENCH) for the latest update on the correct depth, or you'll be doing this all over again.
Not familiar with WRENCH (but I have a bunch) -- is this Honda's online, updated service manual?
Maybe we could ask the parts guys or service writer to look it up while we are there?
I'd still prefer to do the work myself.

Nothing to do with the thread size. The thread size doesn't matter as long as they are all the same so that they all will screw in to the same manifold.
The size of the barbs is what is important, as the barbs are sized for the diameter of the hose that they are to be used on.
Two barbs are for 6mm hose and one is for 8mm hose. In North America 1/4" and 5/16" are generally easier to find, and the difference in diameter is irrelevant for this application.

I finally have time to do the water pump. I have the front case and pump covers removed and now just need to go to the auto hobby shop on base to use the press.PXL_20211111_184646031.jpgPXL_20211111_184638907.jpg

In removing the mechanical seal I have damaged the inner surface in a couple places. Still useable?

COVER, WATER PUMP
19220-MCS-D80
Retail Price: $252.90
Your Price: $183.61

Don't know who's parts list your looking at, but RonAyers has it listed.
I would say your cover is damaged and should be replaced.

Also: In regards to folks saying that their year manual shows the 24 mm depth, yes, all the manuals will show this depth on the manual pages...its the glued in UPDATED inserts that are showing the latest correct depth etc.

Against my conscience I ended up dropping my water pump and cover off at the stealer. I have access to a press and had installed the bearing, oil seal and mechanical seal but I was having trouble keeping the cover level. I did not have warm fuzzies when it came to the impeller and ceramic seal. One of the shop mechanics at my local works on the state patrol STs and had given me some of the same tips as @Igofar about installation. I picked up the cover after 3 weeks of not hearing anything on Friday but I had to work the weekend. Today the front end is back together and the coolant refilled. I started the bike and was greeted by an awful squeal up front and I know there aren't any drive belts on the bike. I grabbed an extension to use as a stethoscope and the squeal is coming from the water pump. I not sure w that the dealer will say when I call them tomorrow but I'm pretty sure they screwed it. :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::censored::censored::censored::censored:

I bet you a dollar they probably just hammered it in place with a socket and ball peen hammer because they were too lazy to walk over and use the press.
And I'll bet you a second dollar that they didn't use anything to measure the depth, but "hummm, this is about right".
Most shops are still banging stuff in there at 24mm or more, and the prop is carving stuff up ;)
I would not try to re-use the cover without first inspecting everything to see what was making that squeal.
Sorry your having these issues.
I would take a HD 25mm wheel spacer, and trim it down to whatever depth you need and carry that in with you and use it as a stop gauge.

So your shop now needs to replace the prop,bearings, both seals, and you need to find out what else it damaged….
So obviously your shop does not bother even looking at the factory service manual?
I would be beyond pissed off.
I am so sorry this happened to you.
Wish you were closer.
