Well, I guess if it hasn't happened to you in 40 years, then color me wrong. That is a HUGE time saver, not having to fix that. As you were thenHmmm... what you describe about a sudden flat on the road has actually never happened to me in 40 years of driving cars and light trucks, but it is possible.
Usually I find my flat tires after the bike or the car has been parked overnight. I've had them get soft during use, however, and needed to air them up in the middle of the day.
