Where did you ride today?

My Dr put me on Metformin (sp?) for high glucose and triglycerides. I just KNEW I didn't want to go to that annual Medicare checkup. The Prescription was in this afternoon so I rode to pick it up. I'm still trying to get over the bad cold I had last week and just barely feeling up to riding but I figured a short ride would be OK. Sunny today with temps around 64*F. But windy. Only rode 17 miles.

When I rode in the coldest temp for this year my cheeks suffered just the beginnings of frostbite. So I ordered a ski mask balaclava for those colder rides. It arrived today and I was wanting to try it out just to see if it would make any difference. It is plenty thin enough to fit under the helmet... same as my skull cap that I always wear. The wind penetration was more what I was testing today. It worked really well just for that. I also noted that it held my warm breath so during colder temps my face would stay much warmer. This was actually my second attempt to order the balaclava. The first attempt I clearly ordered a black balaclava but was sent a cream colored girls t-shirt instead. So I dropped off that return at the UPS store on my ride as well.
 
Did a little 230-mile loop on the Street Glide today, out to Morrow Mtn SP (photo) and back through Pinehurst NC. I know, wrong bike for the forum, but the ST is in the other garage. Even after replacing the rear shocks on the Harley, a HUGE improvement, the ST is a much smoother ride. I guess I need to replace the front shocks on the Harley also.

Whaddya mean... wrong bike?!?
You do realize that a great many members here have moved to other bikes? Some are Harleys. Many are BMW. With several other brands and models thrown in for fun.
As long as it has 2 (or 3) wheels with a motor between you're good.
Heck, they even let me hang around even though I was riding a Super Scooter! Which, BTW, has a sale pending as of today.

What the story with the 4 legged friend?
 
Went to the American Legion meeting tonight. I'm not a member but was just visiting. There are a few posts closer to me but they are not so active and don't have a AL Riders chapter. The post I visited does. And they also do a lot of events and activities like putting on a fish fry over the next several weeks and also providing a full Thanksgiving dinner with a 15 lb turkey, 5 lbs of potatoes, corn, beans and all the other fixings for that dinner to veterans all over the area. I am considering joining due to activities they do.

Rode the Vulcan S 42 miles round trip there and back. I had one experience I don't recall even doing in a car. On the way there one of the routes goes across a mile long bridge over the lake. The roads were all wet but 42*F so I wasn't worried about ice. Been that temp for more than a day previous. The experience was going across that bridge after full dark. Came home a different route that was just a few miles longer and not across the bridge... though I wouldn't have minded going across again.

105 mile loop that got up into the twisty roads of the North Georgia Appalachian mountains, particularly Highway 136 in between
Talking Rock and Gainesville.

I got caught in the rain twice, and when I arrived back home wet I found that my yard was covered with ice from a severe thunderstorm / hail storm that hit while I was away.IMG_1213.jpeg
 
Dammit Dave, you should’ve given me a call when you were in my neck of the woods. I live about 50 miles from where Tennessee meets North Carolina at the Georgia border.
I rode into the north GA mountains briefly on Friday, 1-4 pm. But I got caught in the rain and headed home by 3 PM.
