Where did you ride today?

then a hike where a bought this little jerrycan
I couldn't resist
One afternoon about twenty years ago, I was taking my daughter to her gymnastics class on my Nighthawk. She was probably eight at the time. We were on a rural highway, and I was going to get gas on the way. I ran out about a mile short of the station. A lady in a pickup immediately stopped and gave us a ride to the station and back. I had to buy one of those gas cans. When she dropped us off back at the bike, I offered her some money. She refused to take any. I didn't have any way to carry the can on my bike so I said, "Well, here's a free gas can" and gave it to her.

that was the second time I ran out of gas on that first was seven years ago when I got it and of course one of the rare rides with my wife (which became rarer afterwards 😳)
last time after fumbling around I switched to reserve and we were away
this time I was driving around on reserve
... smart

Last week I rode up to Red Ri er Gorge in Kentucky
About 3.5 hours up from my home.
Beautiful morning with the clouds in the valleys. I stopped at the lookout on Benge's Gap and took pictures.
Nada tunnel, to get into the Red River Gorge, was hand dug using steam drills, dynamite and shovels in 1910-11. 900 ft long and 12 ft wide. One man killed trying to thaw frozen dynamite next to the fire.
Nice ride up and back, and nice road through the Gorge. 1000024269.jpg1000024272.jpg1000024276.jpg1000024266.jpg1000024277.jpg1000024286.jpg1000024280.jpg1000024265.jpg
That looks like some good riding area there. I've never seen of heard of the Nada tunnel until today. It's on my must see list now.

We had a granddaughter coming over in the afternoon, so I did a quick 104-mile morning ride around Ft. Gibson Lake in northeastern Oklahoma.

This new bridge eliminates a couple of the twisties on this highway. It also does away with the old low water crossing on the now-closed dirt road to the far right. It was fun to do on our dual-sport bikes. Sometimes progress sucks.

I saw this guy in the area too.
