WoodSToc 2 - Aug 15-18, 2024 - Mazerolle Settlement, NB

Yesterday, I stopped in at the venue, hoping to get an update on the cabin completion situation. Kevin (one of two owners) and I had a very friendly chat, and I feel confident this place is going to be excellent! Now that the weather is ready, he's ready also, and will "get on it" shortly. Overall, his helpful and welcoming attitude is beyond encouraging.
Rob, you'll have no problem finding a spot to camp - there's level ground, suitably shaded, just for you!
And on another note, my granddaughter is excited about baking proper pies for our Saturday night dinner! She and I are scheming as well toward providing a main course, the whole belly-rubbing scenario. This venue has an ideal "upper room", perfect for a party - dinner party, that is. Wieners and beans, anyone?
So come one, come all, you'll find the friendly attitude is definitely contagious!

@catcher glad you caught up with Kevin yesterday and got some positive confirmation on the cabins.

The whole cabins-currenly-in-reno thing has had me nervous since we met in the Fall, and pondering alternatives just in case it all ends up in the loo.

For those heading out from west of NB to WoodSToc 2; if going through the US from Ontario is a desire, check out Great Motorcycle Roads channel on YouTube. They recently dropped top 5 motorcycle rides for the Laconia bike week. Of course, these rides are great anytime during riding season. Many of these roads I’ve ridden before with Gizmo. It has refreshed my memory and I’m planning on riding some of these New Hampshire roads on my way to NB this August.

Watch those potholes on the trans Canada in NB. Cherie and I are looking forward to seeing you again.
I don’t wanna talk about or hear about potholes in NB lol. Looking forward to seeing you as well.

Would be great to see you again Art
Thanks, looking forward to seeing you as well. Thats the best part of these rides, seeing ones we’ve ridden with again.

The assurances I'm getting during my weekly visits to River Run Resort are steadily getting more and more positive. Hopefully the deal with new owners will close at month end, and we'll be in a position to reserve cabins at the beginning of July.
This venue promises to be like night and day superior to last year's. Hang in there...

With 8 weeks to go, we're hanging....on every update. Doing some trip planning and will probably leave ON a few days earlier, any recommendations for things to see that we won't see on the rides? Thinking maybe Gaspe loop or a side trip to PEI? Asking for recommendations for motels/hotels/B&Bs if anyone has some? Looking forward for our return to the Maritimes!

I did the Gaspe loop several years ago, highly recommend it. Dont have any accommodation recommendations as it was at least 10 years ago. I crossed the St Lawrence at Quebec City, turned left, and ended up in Bathurst and then Miramichi, NB. And then went home via the New England states, did a bunch of the south coast of the Great Lakes. (Detroit was freaky) Not much for accommodations on the Gaspe as I remember it. I looked for a room one night when it was cold, but ended up camping again. Beautiful scenery lots of winding rolling roads, with the river, and eventually ocean on the left, always on the left haha. Next to no traffic, locals only

You will have a friend there!! Myself and Sheila are planning to be at WoodSToc this year as well. Would love to see you again. Hope you are well.

Yes all is well, except I keep getting older…. Looking forward to seeing you too! I have a bit of work to do on the old ST, it’s got 120k miles on it, I’ve got some scratches on my fork tubes, they’re always wet so I’ll take them apart and see if I can get them polished out.

About the roads - I've only been here for 2 1/2 years, so I can't compare to anything beyond that. However, there aren't potholes generally, except maybe on very tertiary roads, and even then easily avoidable. Main highways have occasional sore spots, but are generally smooth and well maintained. What you will find however, is that patching is abundant on some secondary roads. The natural scenery will more than make up for the somewhat irritating patches!

The above was my reply to an earlier inquiry, but of interest to everyone who'll venture out to the beauty of the Maritimes! The outstanding benefit is how almost non-existent traffic is. (same is pretty much true of enforcement)

I did a shake down ride, 2 up towing newer heavier Aspen trailer this past weekend. All went well. Still on schedule to grace you all with our presence in mid August. I just hope the new ferry from Argentia, NL to North Sydney is working at that time! I hope someone will allow me to camp near their fancy cabin! Apparently the owner of the place has already approved that!

You can camp near our dome as long as you keep the snoring to a minimum.
