Here's some of the campsite pics from my recent trip. It's an 8'x7' Coleman tent. It and the sleeping bag, thermarest pad, and hammer for tent stakes all fit in my left hand saddlebag. Other camping gear like jet boil stove, coffee fixin's, utensils, in right side. Clothes, laptop in rear trunk. No deck chairs, cots, etc. We be bare bones. :D

Other campsite pics are in with my trip reports at link in my sig below.

Locations l to r: Calaveras Big Trees St Prk, Mt Lassen NP, Crater Lake NP, Iron Creek, Van Duzen (Humboldt County).

Nice!

What is the TAT?

<D>

Here's one of a campsite I stayed at while riding part of the TAT last Sept.

Check out the tiny tent - told a newby to get a 1-2 man for saving space. He managed to buy a 1-2 person junior tent

Dan, TAT is trans-America-trail, from somewhere in TN to the west coast. Mr. Guy and TrailAce did a few hunnert miles back in September after TXSTOC. We need to do something like that soon.

Just finished installing the new Continental tars and the 4 gal. tank on the Yam. Soon's I figure out my luggage needs and install the wind screen, she'll be ready for a real shakedown ride.

Need to lighten my camping kit. It weighs 47 lbs right now without food.

The TAT is high on my list of things to do before cashing in!!! I missed the opportunity to get in on it with Trailace, Chief, and Mr. Guy this year, because I took Carole to AR when they were meeting in MS/AR.

I have some things I need to get done during my time off but right now my Winter Break will be from 12/19 @ about 6PM to 1/5 at about 8am.

A couple night shake down wouldn't be a bad idea.

I know John Diego is thinking about it.

How about somewhere in 29 Palms / Joshua Tree? (I've never been there on a bike)

This is a photo I won 3rd place with in the St. Louis Post Dispatch's Traveler's photo contest back in 2003. This was on the way to HyderSeek Rally, in Hyder, Alaska. This was up in British Columbia. Film camera, an old Nikon with obviously a slow exposure. Photo is of my riding buddy, Jason who won a 2 week trip to Brazil from Ron Ayers Adventure motorcycle tours. I got a lousy $100 for the photo in the contest and he gets 2 weeks of riding a BMW GS1150 in South America. I think I got screwed. Next time we go to Hyder, I hope to win something, maybe a door prize or something, or maybe this time I will get Hyderized.

This is gonna be my first post for the 2010 calendar. Taken off of US-70, east of Safford, AZ, on Monday, 12-8-08. Clouds and thunder storms were rolling from the south west. A little damp but no real problem.

Bike and tent are in the pic, but they are not the focal point.Hill Country Hoot 310.jpg

Dan, there's a lot of good stuff around Salton Sea. Also, just on the south edge of Joshua tree but gotta stay out of the park. Lots of deep sand and free camping. :D
