Nice. I have a 3.3 gallon tank on the ‘96 Magna. At 97 miles I’m nervously watching the rpm’s, waiting for them to start dropping, so I can switch to the reserve tank mid-flight. I wish I could get your gas mileage, but I guess with 4 cylinders, and carbureted, that’s what I get lol.It was a really nice Sunday so I went for a Sunday ride. Rode out to the locally famous tree farm where many still buy their Christmas trees and other landscaping stuff. Rode 77 miles today.
Started the ride with 97 miles on the tank of gas. I have a 3.7 gallon tank. I decided to wait until the end to fill the tank just to see how far I would go. Ended up with 173 miles on that tank of gas and only put in 3.1 gal. Doing a bit of math shows that I had another 33 miles to go... or a total of 206 miles for the tank. I think that's the best so far since I brought the bike home new a little more than a month ago. I expect the mpg to go up from what it starts out with when new. I calculated 55.7 mpg.

Yeah, it’s older, and definitely a much different bike from the ST which does the long distance stuff for me. But man, the Magna is such a fun bike and it’s really the only thing I can fault it for. Congrats on your new ride. I always enjoy the bonding period with a new bike. Ride safe!Plus an older bike as well. My second bike was a Vulcan 750 with a 3.6 gal tank. I never got the MPG on that bike as I do on my new bike.
On the 750 I did have a Petcock to manually switch over for reserve. On the Vulcan S it is more like many new bikes where there is no manual Petcock. Instead the last bar or E on the gas gauge starts to flash when into the reserve. I was surprised how far I could go on that last bar before it started flashing... and then to know now I can go about another 40+ miles when it does. On that ride it started flashing with a little more than 12 miles before I stopped for gas. That makes it a little more than 45 miles on reserve!

They all left from NatStoc. You all might want to change the dates on this event. Whatever. We had a great time riding with Deuce.Try not to look so happy.....
